LIFEBOAT  CHANNEL

Presented by David Barbini,
Founder & CEO at lifeboatchannel

My name is David Barbini, I’m from Tuscany, and I’ve been working with lifeboats for over ten years.

I’ve never sailed, but I’ve always worked side by side with seafarers — right on the field.

My journey began as an external technician for a major Italian company, where I learned everything hands-on, day after day, lifeboat after lifeboat.

After two years, I was contacted by a multinational company, where I spent six years growing professionally, tackling new systems, regulations, and technical challenges.

I then moved to another multinational company, where I’m still working today with the same passion as the first day.

Over the years, I’ve completed technical training with some of the world’s leading lifeboat and davit manufacturers, including:

Global Davit, Davit International, Fassmer, Atec, NorthSafe, Viking, Palfinger, and many more.

Each system is different, every release hook has its logic, and every setup has its story. That’s why I decided to gather all this experience and make it available to those who are just getting started.

Lifeboat Channel was born from this mission: to create a clear, accessible, and practical space where cadets can learn and become confident with lifesaving appliances from day one.

The website www.lifeboatchannel.com and the video content on social media all have one goal:

to boost confidence, safety, and awareness at sea — starting from the basics, but never being basic.

 Why Lifeboat Channel Was Created

After many years working on board, I witnessed one recurring issue: many seafarers — especially cadets — are not confident with lifesaving appliances.

That’s where Lifeboat Channel comes in.

Our goal is to build a clear, practical learning platform where cadets can study, review, and grow.

At the heart of the project is our website: www.lifeboatchannel.com — designed to help seafarers strengthen their understanding and confidence with abandonment systems, one step at a time.

Social Media as a Learning Tool

Lifeboat Channel uses the power of social media to deliver technical content directly to those who need it.

YouTube will be the core of our strategy, with long-form training videos launching in June 2025.

Our content is practical, easy to follow, and created to help cadets learn anytime, anywhere — with a focus on clarity and real-world application.

Test & Win on Our Landing Page

We’re also launching an interactive landing page where users can take a 50-question test on lifesaving systems.

Based on your answers, you’ll have the chance to win official Lifeboat Channel gear in a giveaway.

It’s a fun and engaging way to test your knowledge, improve your skills, and become part of a growing community of safety-minded seafarers.
